Brooke Walzel is a dedicated advocate for social change and community development. She is passionate about empowering the artists in her community and ensuring equitable access to resources and opportunities. In addition to being founder of The BLOC Foundation, she also sits on the Board of Directors. Brooke received her BFA with a concentration of oil painting and a minor in Business Administration from Texas State University in 2018. She has spent her time since then participated in gallery exhibitions and staying in touch with the local art community. Brooke published a bound softcover book titled Rock Climbing in September 2021 that includes 108 pages of original writings combined with watercolor paintings of abstracted scenes. Shortly after her book Rock Climbing was published it was showcased on a table in a living room scene that was handcrafted by the artist alongside her paintings hung on the wall during the Exhibition Fleeting at the Texas State Galleries FLEX Space. After deinstallation more copies were printed and sold in local shops around Houston, Texas and even lined the shelves at Moonflower Effect all the way in Sidney, Ohio. We are thrilled to give back to the art community through The BLOC Foundation and seek to actively collaborate with a diverse group of artist.

Shelly Walzel is a seasoned professional in business management with more than 20 years of experience. She holds leadership roles in various organizations, focusing on development, education, and real estate. She currently serves on the Board of Directors at The BLOC Foundation Inc., where she has successfully led initiatives to expand access to art education and foster cross-sector partnerships. Shelly holds a BBA from The University of Houston. In addition to her role at The BLOC Foundation, she is a business owner, mother of two and has been married to Spencer Walzel for 40 years. In her free time you can find her sitting on the back porch with a cup of coffee in her hand. She loves spending time with her family and friends.

Spencer Walzel sits on the Board of Directors at The BLOC Foundation Inc. with more than 20 years of experience in business management. He is committed to advancing the mission of the organization and supporting its strategic initiatives. His years of diverse experience and leadership will be invaluable as the organization continues to grow and make a lasting impact in the community. His sense of humor and attention to detail are valued more than words can say. In addition to his role at The BLOC Foundation, he is a business owner, father of two and has been married to Shelly Walzel for 40 years. In his free time you can find him in the backyard watering his plants or taking a joyride on the boat with family and friends.
